2nd year Photography student

I decided to create a book of my blog for Time and Space so that I could keep all of the development and process in one place. I feel that it fits quite nicely with my final ‘Memories’ book.

The Final Outcome

The outcome for this project is a PDF file, however I have decided to design a book of my final images. It is a 12 cm x 12 cm square book, with Japanese stab binding on the left. I used tracing paper for any written pages, and card for the photographs. It contains 10 sets of images.

1. Barmerra - Double Bay - Glenelg
2. Guhng
3. Waiting for the rain
4. Collecting and Finding
5. The Rocks
6. Berri
7. On the road in the Outback
8. Angorichina
9. Surfers’ Paradise
10. Sydney Harbour

Along with 2 photographs as an opening and ending, of my rucksack and other travelling items.

This project has brought back lots of memories and I designed the book as a personal way of remembering.

Beginning and End of the collection.

The idea for these two photographs came from The Burning House project.

If your house was burning, what would you take? http://theburninghouse.com/

What to pack… The first is what I would take there, and the second is what I would bring home.

So far…

I hope that these photographs will be incorporated into my final set. I think I still have more to shoot but hopefully I am almost there. I’ve decided to name them by the places that they remind me of so that they trigger memories through words as well as the images, and at the moment thinking of adding a single paragraph to each collection within the set, maybe of a memory or a feeling about the place and why this photograph represents it.

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car

This song, Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, is probably one of the most significant songs that reminds me of Australia. It can be linked to various locations, places I stayed and with different people, it also reminds of me bus and plane journeys as it was always in the playlist. Each time I listen to it, it can bring back a different memory, a different time and a different space.
